Dustin Rhodes, a prominent figure in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has recently voiced his desire to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, stating that he would accept the honor if it were offered to him. Rhodes, who has been with AEW since 2019, has enjoyed a successful run in the Jacksonville-based promotion, but he remains open to the possibility of being recognized by his former employer, WWE, for his contributions to the sport.

WWE Hall of Fame Aspirations

In an interview with FOX News, Rhodes acknowledged that the chances of his return to WWE are slim, but he emphasized that he would be more than willing to accept an induction into the Hall of Fame if it were ever offered to him. He specifically mentioned that he would prefer Cody Rhodes, his son, or his daughter to be the one to induct him, calling it the most meaningful honor of his career.

“Absolutely, I’m a very humble guy though, it’s like, if it comes, it comes, whatever. I would love Cody to do it and my daughter, specifically both of them. That would be just great, the most meaningful, heartfelt. But if it comes, it comes, if it doesn’t, no big deal. I’ve had an awesome, incredible career, doing some great things,” said Rhodes.

Past with WWE and the Goldust Gimmick

Dustin Rhodes spent a significant portion of his career in WWE, where he was known for his comedic character, Goldust. While many fans enjoyed his work with that gimmick, Rhodes has expressed frustration over that chapter of his career, particularly in terms of the lack of opportunities it provided.

On X, a fan asked Rhodes if Goldust would ever return to WWE, to which he responded with a clear “No.” He explained that the Goldust character had run its course and that he had done what he was told, but it had not led to success in WWE.

“Nope! I never got a raise there. What, you want me sitting the bench doing nothing? That ain’t me anymore. I have done the best work of my career with @AEW. I love the character Goldust, but he ran its course. I did what I was told and it got me nowhere. No thanks,” wrote Rhodes.

AEW Career and Future Prospects

Since joining AEW in 2019, Rhodes has been a key figure in the promotion, capturing the AEW TNT Championship at All In in Texas last year. His work in AEW has been widely praised, and he has faced some of the biggest names in the industry, including Cody Rhodes, Kyle Fletcher, and MJF.

Currently, Rhodes is out of action due to a knee replacement surgery. However, fans are eagerly awaiting his return to AEW, where he has been delivering some of the best performances of his career. His comments on the WWE Hall of Fame have sparked renewed interest in his potential return to the Stamford-based promotion, even if it’s just for the honor of induction.

“I have done the best work of my career with @AEW. I love the character Goldust, but he ran its course. I did what I was told and it got me nowhere. No thanks,” wrote Rhodes, emphasizing his current focus on his AEW career.

With his AEW career still in full swing, it remains to be seen whether WWE will ever offer him the honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame. For now, Rhodes is content with his current work and the success he has achieved with AEW.
