The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations have set the stage for a fiercely competitive race, with HBO Max’s ‘The Pitt’ and Apple TV+’s ‘Hacks’ dominating the list. ‘The Pitt,’ starring Noah Wyle, earned 25 nominations, the highest total — including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Wyle. ‘Hacks,’ in its final season, broke the comedy category record with 24 nominations, eclipsing previous record-holders ‘The Bear’ (2024) and ‘The Studio’ (2025).

Leading Contenders and Newcomers

Apple TV+ has made a strong showing with ‘Widow’s Bay,’ a horror-comedy starring Matthew Rhys, which received 19 nominations, the most for any first-year series. Another Apple entry, the dystopian sci-fi drama ‘Pluribus,’ led by Rhea Seehorn, earned 18 nominations. The limited series category saw Netflix’s ‘BEEF’ Season 2 with 16 nominations, while HBO Max’s ‘DTF St. Louis’ received 13.

Notable individual performances include Steve Carell for ‘Rooster,’ Jamie Lee Curtis for ‘The Bear,’ and Michelle Pfeiffer for ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles.’ Katherine LaNasa of ‘The Pitt’ is also in the spotlight for her role in the drama series.

Emmy Ceremony Details and Host

The event, held at CJ CGV’s Yongsan Ipark Mall on July 23, featured judges from global entertainment giants such as Warner Bros. Discovery, The Walt Disney Company Japan, and NHK. The final nominees will be announced in September, with the awards ceremony scheduled for November 23 in New York.
