Jelly Roll doesn’t want his words twisted. Amid his divorce from Bunnie Xo, the “I Am Not Okay” singer clarified his intention behind one of his recent TikTok videos, which was posted nearly a month after their listed date of separation, May 9.
Jelly Roll’s TikTok Was Not a Response to Divorce
In the June 5 TikTok, Jelly Roll shared two photos of himself and 18-year-old daughter Bailee Ann DeFord set to the song “Mama,” his recent collaboration with Latto.
“Can’t believe my life right now / I feel on top of the world,” the lyrics sang. “Should’ve seen my face when they me it’s a baby girl.”
But following the news that the 41-year-old had filed for divorce from Bunnie after 10 years of marriage, fans theorized the video was meant as a response to the split.
“Wow….this post is a BOLD ass move,” one user wrote in the comments. Another added, “You can thank bunnie for that.” And one fan wrote, “Bunnie got you there. You owe her everything.”
However, Jelly Roll (real name Jason DeFord) explained that the video was not meant to comment on their split. “This wasn’t posted today,” he wrote June 16. “It’s just going viral today, it is not a response to anything.”
Bailee Ann DeFord Asks for Privacy
He added, “All this post meant was I love my daughter and I’m honored to be on Latto’s song. Love y’all.” And Jelly Roll, who is also dad to 9-year-old son Noah, isn’t the only one wanting to avoid drama, as Bailee Ann also spoke up about the split, asking for privacy.
“I am disgusted at how invested everyone is in a very clearly private family matter,” the teen wrote on her TikTok Stories June 16. “It’s fkn crazy.”
“Go on somewhere yall,” she added. “Worry bout your house, not mine.” Still, Bailee Ann hinted that she might share her thoughts on the divorce in the future, saying, “I’m not speaking on it—yet.”
Bunnie Xo’s Cryptic Social Media Posts
Prior to news of their split going public on June 15, Bunnie (real name Alisa DeFord) had shared several cryptic messages to her own social accounts, including a June 15 TikTok in which the 46-year-old lip-synced to Nickleback’s song “How You Remind Me.”
The Dumb Blonde podcast host also shared a pic of herself to her Instagram Stories the same day, writing, “She’s getting her sparkle back.” For a look back at Jelly Roll and Bunnie’s relationship, keep reading.
