Former ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ star Joe Amabile has revealed he was diagnosed with an early-stage glioma after a full-body MRI scan. He shared the news in a video post on social media, explaining that the tumor was discovered in his brain after an initial scan. ‘I definitely wasn’t expecting this,’ he said. ‘I think it’s one of those things where you’re like, oh, something like this can never happen to me. And here I am.’

Diagnosis and Upcoming Surgery

In the video, Amabile said doctors found a blueberry-sized lesion in his brain that looks to be a glioma, a type of tumor. According to the Cleveland Clinic, gliomas account for about 80% of all malignant brain tumors. Amabile is scheduled to undergo surgery in two weeks to remove the tumor. ‘I hope they are able to get it all and I’m fine, but I will keep you updated,’ he added.

Support from Family and Friends

Amabile said he is doing his best to stay positive and is grateful for the support from family and friends. His wife, Serena Pitt, commented on his post, saying, ‘You’re so strong and we’re going to get through this together. I love you.’ Amabile and Pitt tied the knot in October 2022 after meeting on ‘Bachelor in Paradise.’

Amabile also shared on social media that this past month has been a mix of ups and downs after multiple scans and MRIs. He mentioned that he had considered whether to share the news publicly but ultimately decided to be transparent about his journey. ‘This is now part of my life now, so might as well. Onto a new journey,’ he said.
