Nancy Grewal, a 45-year-old Punjabi social media influencer, was found stabbed to death in LaSalle, Ontario, Canada, on March 3, 2026. Her mother, Shinderpal Kaur, has accused three individuals of being involved in her murder, alleging a conspiracy that began with threats and public disputes in Punjab, India.
Alleged Threats and Conspiracy
Speaking at her home in Deol Nagar, Jalandhar, Shinderpal Kaur said her daughter regularly received threats and had informed local police in Canada about them. She also mentioned that her house had been set on fire a few months before the murder. Grewal was known for speaking out on various issues, often using strong language against Khalistanis, political leaders, and religious groups.
Recently, Grewal posted videos criticizing Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the chief of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, after he met Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia in Nabha jail. She used strong language against the dera chief in her videos. Shinderpal also accused the main conspirator, an elderly man involved in a local gurdwara in Windsor, Ontario, of being behind the plot.
Threats and Surveillance
According to Shinderpal, one of the three suspects visited her home earlier with a covered face for reconnaissance. Nancy, who had CCTV cameras both inside and outside her house, spotted him, causing the suspect to become frightened. Shinderpal claimed that without the cameras, Nancy could have been killed on that day as well.
Grewal had recently raised concerns about gold belonging to a man who died in Canada and was originally from Phagwara. She was threatened to stop the issue but remained firm in helping the man’s family. She also insisted that the local gurdwara should have CCTV cameras, which some people objected to, Shinderpal alleged.
Work and Advocacy
Nancy worked as a caregiver, working two shifts a day with two companies. She shared with her mother everything from her experiences with patients to the threats she faced and the complaints she made to the police. Shinderpal said she was fully aware of those who had grudges against her.
Grewal was passionate about speaking the truth on various issues and often tried to help the poor or those seeking justice. Shinderpal said she encouraged her daughter to continue speaking the truth if it brought her satisfaction.
Shinderpal said she checked Nancy’s CCTV cameras upon waking up on March 3 to see if she had returned. Nancy did not answer her calls that day, and the family contacted the police, who later confirmed her death. The woman who found Nancy being attacked informed the police.
Grewal had moved to Canada after marrying a singer who lived there. She had wanted a career in singing but could not make it and ended up anchoring stage shows. Shinderpal said the marriage ended after some time, and Nancy had to fend for herself.
The LaSalle Police Service reported that emergency services responded to the 2400 block of Todd Lane shortly before 9:30 p.m. on March 3 for a stabbing. A 45-year-old female was found with injuries and was transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her identity was withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
On Thursday morning, the police confirmed her identity and stated that investigators are treating the incident as isolated. They urged the public to provide tips, information, and video surveillance to aid in the investigation.
