A new eatery in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, has captured the attention of locals and visitors alike with its unprecedented success in its first week of operations. Stix Noodle Bar, which opened for business on March 9, has been selling out every day despite increasing stock on a daily basis. The venue is set to officially open on Saturday with a grand event featuring Welsh podcaster Cullan Mais, known for his work with the Central Club podcast.
Queues Down the Street as Demand Surpasses Expectations
Queues formed along Quay Street as customers flocked to the new noodle bar, with many expressing surprise at the overwhelming response. The eatery, located at 1a Quay Street, has become a local phenomenon, with people traveling from across Pembrokeshire to sample its offerings. Owner Shaun Saunders described the first week as ‘unbelievable,’ noting that the response has been far greater than anticipated.
‘I can’t believe how well it’s been received not just by people from Haverfordwest but by people from all over Pembrokeshire,’ Saunders said. ‘We’ve had people come from far and wide and we have had amazing feedback. The age range is fantastic, from kids to OAPs. We are completely accessible for disabled customers too.’
The popularity of Stix has been so high that the business has had to continuously increase its stock. ‘We doubled the stock, then we tripled the stock, then we quadrupled the stock and we still sold out,’ Saunders said. ‘I was never expecting it to go down that well. I can’t believe how many people love noodles.’
Menu Offers a Wide Range of Toppings and Options
The Stix concept is simple and customizable, with customers able to choose a box meal based on either noodles or rice. They can then select from a variety of toppings, including chicken, vegetables, pork, or prawns, along with a selection of sauces and sides such as potato wedges and spring rolls. The venue also offers a range of refillable soft drinks and prawn crackers, with customers able to purchase bottles of Stix sauces to take home.
The pricing is designed to appeal to a wide audience, with a regular box featuring two toppings costing £7.99, a large with three toppings priced at £8.99, and an extra large with four toppings at £9.99. Customers can also opt to make it a full meal by adding a side and a refillable drink. Additional options include taking home boxes of sides or small bite boxes.
‘We are delighted with how it’s going,’ said Saunders. ‘We have sold out every day. We are just absolutely so grateful for the support we’ve received.’
Future Plans Include Extended Hours and Home Delivery
Stix Noodle Bar is currently open from 12pm to 8pm Monday to Saturday for the first few weeks. However, Saunders has announced future plans to expand operating hours to seven days a week, with later evening times. The eatery also plans to introduce home delivery services to meet the growing demand from customers who have been unable to visit in person.
With its success already evident, Stix is ready to become a staple of the local food scene in Haverfordwest. The official grand opening on Saturday is expected to be a major event, with local influencers and dignitaries set to attend. The event promises to be a ‘huge day of celebration’ and an opportunity for the community to come together and support the new business.
The success of Stix Noodle Bar highlights the potential for new businesses in the area and the strong appetite for fresh, accessible, and affordable dining options. The eatery’s ability to meet the high demand in its first week suggests that it has tapped into a niche that is both popular and underserved in the local market.
As the eatery continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how it manages the balance between maintaining its quality and scaling up its operations. With plans to expand hours and introduce home delivery, Stix is well-positioned to build on its early success and become a long-term fixture in Haverfordwest’s culinary landscape.
