Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and actor-turned-politician Vijay held a consultation meeting in Chennai on Monday to discuss preparations for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. The meeting, held at the party’s office in Teynampet, brought together key administrative members and officials to strategize and strengthen the organization ahead of the polls.

Strategic Planning and Internal Consultations

Vijay, who founded TVK, has been actively engaging with party members and holding internal consultations to consolidate the party’s organisational network. The meeting was part of a series of efforts aimed at mobilizing the party’s cadre and preparing for the political challenges ahead. According to party sources, the focus was on refining campaign strategies and ensuring compliance with the Model Code of Conduct, which came into effect after the Election Commission of India announced the poll schedule for Tamil Nadu.

Vijay has been making a strong push into politics since leaving the film industry. His transition has been marked by a series of public engagements, including rallies and meetings with party workers, all of which have aimed to build public support for his political ambitions. The meeting on Monday was seen as a key step in consolidating his position as a potential Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

KA Sengottaiyan, the TVK Executive Committee Chief Coordinator, spoke to reporters after arriving at Chennai airport from Coimbatore. He emphasized that the party is strictly adhering to all election-related regulations and government rules. ‘Not only election-related regulations but all government rules are being followed properly by our movement,’ he said, adding that all activities under Vijay’s leadership are conducted within legal boundaries.

Public Support and Electoral Challenges

Sengottaiyan noted that public support for Vijay to become Chief Minister is steadily growing. He highlighted that the actor-turned-politician’s decision to step away from cinema to serve the people has resonated with voters. ‘The actor left behind a highly successful film career to dedicate himself to public service,’ he said, highlighting the shift in public perception.

However, Sengottaiyan also raised concerns about perceived restrictions on Vijay’s campaign. He mentioned that it seemed as if 51 restrictions were imposed specifically on the TVK leader. ‘From the way things unfolded, it seemed as if as many as 51 restrictions were imposed only on Vijay,’ he said, adding that people are now questioning whether other parties in the electoral field are also following the same election rules.

The Election Commission of India announced on Sunday that the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu will be held in a single phase on April 23, with counting taking place on May 4. The Model Code of Conduct came into immediate effect across the state, prompting political parties to ramp up their campaign activities.

Vijay’s team has been working to ensure that all campaign activities are conducted within the legal framework. ‘The election code of conduct applies to all political parties equally,’ Sengottaiyan said, reinforcing that TVK is adhering to the regulations as required.

Looking Ahead: Implications for Tamil Nadu’s Political Landscape

With the poll schedule now finalized, all political parties are intensifying their preparations. TVK, led by Vijay, is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming elections, given the actor’s growing influence and the party’s focus on grassroots mobilization. Analysts suggest that the party’s ability to maintain momentum and avoid any legal or logistical hiccups will be crucial in the coming months.

Vijay’s entry into politics has already shifted the dynamics in Tamil Nadu. His transition from cinema to politics has garnered considerable attention, and his party’s adherence to the Model Code of Conduct has been closely monitored by both the Election Commission and the public.

The upcoming elections will be a test not only for TVK but for all political parties in the state. With the Model Code of Conduct in effect, the focus will be on ensuring that all campaign activities are conducted transparently and within legal limits. Vijay’s leadership and the party’s organizational strength will be key factors in determining their success in the polls.

As the election date approaches, the party is expected to hold more consultations and public meetings. The upcoming months will be critical for TVK as it seeks to build a strong campaign strategy and secure support from voters across Tamil Nadu.
