Aurora Artisan Crafts, a shop selling handcrafted gifts and goods, opened this weekend at 3 Vanguard House, Milford Haven Waterfront in Pembrokeshire. The shop, owned by Rhiannon Stephens, features a variety of handmade items including jewellery, stained glass sun catchers, pet portraits, and eco-friendly cloth pads and wipes.
Local Entrepreneur Returns with a Passion for Craft
Rhiannon Stephens, the founder of Aurora Artisan Crafts, returned to Pembrokeshire after three years away and seized the opportunity to open the shop at Milford Waterfront. The shop is the culmination of her five-year career in creating and selling art and crafts online via platforms like Facebook and Etsy.
Stephens, who has been crafting since childhood, has transformed her passion into a successful online business and now hopes to expand her reach through the new physical location. The shop is dog-friendly and offers pet portraits, a unique feature that has attracted local interest.
Stephens has personally designed the shop’s exterior sign and renovated the space, adding display cabinets with LED strip lighting to highlight her products. ‘This is something I have been dreaming of for a while,’ she said. ‘It all seemed to come together at once.’
Community Support and Future Plans
The shop’s opening has been met with positive feedback from the local community. Other shop owners in the area have praised the shop’s appearance, and Stephens has already welcomed a few early visitors who have been ‘really lovely.’
Stephens plans to host an opening event with drinks and nibbles, inviting friends, family, and new customers. The shop will be open from 10am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday, providing a new retail destination for the Milford Haven area.
Stephens expressed her joy at returning to Pembrokeshire, saying, ‘I missed the people and the community feel. It is back with friends and family.’
Handmade Products and Eco-Friendly Offerings
The shop offers a wide range of handmade items, including stained glass sun catchers, reusable eco-friendly cloth pads and wipes, and period pads. These products reflect Stephens’ commitment to sustainability and creativity.
Stephens has also created a workshop area within the shop, allowing her to continue crafting while engaging with customers. This setup supports her goal of maintaining a connection with her work and the community.
Aurora Artisan Crafts is expected to become a local staple, offering a unique blend of artistry and community engagement. The shop’s presence at Milford Haven Waterfront is anticipated to attract both residents and visitors looking for handmade, eco-friendly products.
The shop’s opening marks a significant step for Stephens, who has successfully transitioned her online presence into a physical retail space. As the shop continues to operate, it is likely to influence local commerce and provide a new source of support for artisans in the area.
