Nathan Carman, an Australian man, was arrested at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport on Friday in connection with the disappearance of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla in Pattaya, Thailand. After questioning Carman, police found a naked body in a suitcase near railway tracks, which they confirmed was Donhomla. According to local police, Carman faces three charges: murder, concealing a corpse to hide the cause of death, and abducting a minor for indecent purposes. Carman denied all charges.

Custody Video and Statements

In custody footage obtained by the ABC and other media, Carman said the events were ‘out of my control.’ He addressed Donhomla’s family in the video: ‘I feel bad for what happened to your daughter. It was out of my control.’ He also said, ‘I hope you, I know you’ll be very sad, upset. Same, same me. It shouldn’t happen. I hope you’re OK, I know you’re not – but I hope and tell other girls just to be … careful …’

The footage shows scratch marks on Carman’s upper arms and neck, which he described as spider bites: ‘I think it’s a spider; they always get in here.’

CCTV Evidence and Timeline

CCTV footage verified by police shows Carman and Donhomla holding hands in a condo lobby at around 3:30 am on Thursday while waiting for an elevator. Later that evening, between 9:25 pm and 9:48 pm, the footage allegedly shows Carman dragging the suitcase out of the building and leaving on a motorbike with it strapped behind him. Between 9:57 pm and 10:06 pm, Carman returned without the suitcase.

Local Media Reports

Local Thai media have reported that the alleged crime began with a disagreement over money. The incident has sparked widespread attention in Thailand and internationally, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Donhomla’s death and Carman’s involvement.
