Expanding the Avatar Universe

Alongside the film, Paramount+ has announced a new animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens, which will debut on October 9, 2026, according to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. Set after the events of The Legend of Korra, the series follows a young Earthbender who discovers she is the new Avatar. However, this title now marks her as humanity’s destroyer rather than its key figure. She and her long-lost twin must uncover their origins and protect the Seven Havens before civilization collapses.

Avatar: Seven Havens is created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who also co-created the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series. The show has a 26-episode order and is produced by Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios. It marks the first new animated series in the Avatar universe since the conclusion of The Legend of Korra in 2014.

Broader Franchise Developments

While the animated Avatar films and series continue to expand, Disney+ is also promoting the broader Avatar film universe, including James Cameron’s live-action films.
