From smart inspection to emergency water purification, supporting Chinese companies overseas

In the smart policing and security zone at the Xiamen International Expo Center, aircraft spread their wings and patrol and early-warning robots stand ready. During the 26th China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT), Dongnan Tewei Group brought a range of security and emergency equipment to the exhibition, drawing business visitors from China and abroad seeking information.

The exhibits address different needs at overseas projects: using aircraft platforms for surveying, mapping and line inspections; deploying smart equipment for patrols and early warnings; and providing workers with emergency drinking water in remote areas without access to clean water sources.

According to a September 10 report in Xiamen Evening News, Dongnan Tewei's overseas projects now span regions including the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia, providing security for Chinese-invested projects abroad and protecting personnel and property.

A cross-border operation in Dongnan Tewei's overseas business previously earned recognition from the authorities concerned. Xiamen Evening News reported that in 2018, Dongnan Tewei's company in the Philippines assisted the relevant Chinese authorities in a crackdown on telecommunications fraud sites in the Philippines, helping the authorities arrest 151 suspects. The company received a letter of thanks from the authorities concerned.

At this exhibition, Dongnan Tewei brought several types of technical equipment together for business visitors to see. Among them, the Lingkun S40 vertical take-off and landing aircraft for aerial surveying and photography has an all-carbon-fibre structure. The original report describes it as a Class IV fixed-wing aircraft platform that is portable, easy to use and operate, efficient, stable, wind-resistant and durable.

Depending on the mission, the platform can carry equipment such as a full-frame camera, a five-lens camera, an electro-optical pod or a release device. Its main uses include topographic surveying and mapping, 3D reality modelling, agricultural and forestry protection, and power-line inspections. Different payloads allow the same aircraft platform to handle multiple tasks, providing technical support for surveying, mapping and line inspections at project sites.

The portable emergency water-purification equipment exhibited alongside the aircraft platform addresses a basic need of personnel working overseas: drinking water. Some Chinese-invested projects abroad are in remote locations where clean water is not readily accessible. According to the product description in the original report, the equipment can rapidly produce safe drinking water in extreme environments without access to clean water sources, helping protect overseas workers' lives and health and meet their emergency living needs.

Other smart security products on display included patrol and early-warning robots and integrated high-ratio video data compression units. Together with the aircraft platform and emergency water-purification equipment, they made up the company's product lineup at the exhibition.

Dongnan Tewei's predecessor was Xiamen Dongnan Tewei Security Service Co., Ltd., established in 2014 and described in the original report as Xiamen's first privately owned security company. After more than a decade of development, the group now has 10 companies in which it holds controlling stakes. Its business covers domestic security, smart security, security training and international security, enabling it to provide comprehensive services ranging from conventional guarding to smart security.

Dongnan Tewei also works with technology companies on professional cooperation concerning the security of businesses expanding overseas. According to a report published on SDIC Intelligence's official website on September 9, 2025, Dongnan Tewei and SDIC Intelligence jointly hosted an exchange conference on policing, security and legal technologies and the security of companies operating overseas during the previous CIFIT. They shared security assessments and practical cases covering subjects such as risk early warning. During the event's signing session, Meiya Pico and Dongnan Tewei signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

In October 2025, China's Ministry of Commerce and four other departments issued the Guiding Opinions on Further Improving the Comprehensive Overseas Service System. The document called for bringing together professional service providers in fields including security protection and using platforms such as CIFIT to help companies connect with high-quality service resources worldwide, supporting their participation in international cooperation and competition.

During this year's CIFIT, Dongnan Tewei's booth received numerous business visitors from China and abroad, with particularly frequent discussions concerning overseas security needs.

From surveying, mapping and line inspections to patrols, early warnings and emergency drinking water in remote areas, the equipment Dongnan Tewei displayed addresses practical needs concerning personnel, assets and project-site support as Chinese companies expand overseas.
