India extended their dominance in the T20 series against Zimbabwe with a commanding 90-run win at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday, securing a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The victory came after a strong batting display and effective bowling performance.

Strong Batting from Kishan and Varma

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma starred with the bat, scoring 81 and an unbeaten 60 respectively, as their combined effort helped India post a formidable total of 219-5 after being put in to bat. Kishan reached his 81 off 44 balls, while Varma took 29 deliveries to reach his 60.

The duo accelerated the scoring in the middle overs, capitalizing on loose bowling that often went too full — they added 94 runs in just 44 balls for the fourth wicket before Kishan was dismissed after mistiming a slog to the deep.

Zimbabwe Struggle in Record Run Chase

Zimbabwe faced a daunting chase. But struggled from the outset; Opener Brian Bennett provided some hope with a 32-run knock off 19 balls, featuring a variety of strokes. However, his dismissal to Yash Thakur, who took 2-30 on his T20 international debut, marked the beginning of a steady wicket collapse.

Once Bennett was out, Zimbabwe lost wickets at regular intervals. Abhishek Sharma, with his slow left-arm bowling, was the standout performer for India, finishing with the best figures of 3-17. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs, falling well short of the target.

India Lead Series, Final Match Set

India had already taken control of the series after winning the opening match by seven wickets with 40 balls to spare. The third and final match is scheduled for Sunday at the Harare Sports Club. With the current momentum, India look ready to complete a series whitewash.

Both Kishan and Varma’s performances have been major in India’s success in Zimbabwe, showcasing their ability to perform under pressure and adapt to different conditions. The result further cements India’s strong position in the T20 format against Zimbabwe.
