Keke Palmer’s Fashion Footnotes

Keke Palmer’s 2026 calendar was packed with red carpet appearances, each marked by distinctive footwear. At the Billboard Women in Music event on April 29, she wore metallic silver Jimmy Choo Max platform heels, while at the SXSW premiere of ‘I Love Boosters’ on March 12, she was seen in Paris Texas Lidia Mules in a PVC silver finish. On May 13, at the Los Angeles premiere of the same film, she wore Paris Texas Lidia Mules again in a metallic silver version. At the Hearst Magazines’ Women’s Health Lab in New York, she transitioned from Louboutin T-strap pumps into Black Suede Studio Jazz 100 mules, which retail for $345 and feature a 100mm heel and glossy black finish.

Promoting the film on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on May 18, Palmer wore metallic gold pointy toe slingback heels with a side buckle. Earlier in February, she was seen at the premiere of Peacock’s ‘The ‘Burbs’ in Gucci GG canvas Notable boots with a stiletto heel. Her SXSW event appearance on March 13 saw her in Alevì Giusy black sandals. Each of these looks reflected a carefully curated aesthetic, drawing attention to both the film and her personal style.

‘I Love Boosters’ and Its Social Commentary

The film ‘I Love Boosters,’ directed by Boots Riley, uses comedy to critique the consumerist system and the power of corporations. Eiza González, Keke Palmer, and Demi Moore star in the film as a group of women who band together to rob a powerful conglomerate. González reflected on the film’s message, stating, ‘The question the movie poses is: What would happen if we all united? We haven’t reached that point yet because we’ve been taught to divide ourselves. They don’t want us together because together we are stronger.’

Naomi Ackie, who plays the best friend of Keke’s character, echoed the theme, calling consumerism a ‘strange form of exploitation’ and comparing it to a ‘global pyramid scheme.’ According to ABC, Eiza González added, ‘It’s simply about accepting that it’s impossible to live in a world where we don’t consume, because that’s the world we’ve been presented with. We have to make the best of what we have in this moment, because this is the world, the world designed this way. It is simply this way. You cannot escape it.’

Community Action and Promotional Efforts

To further promote the film, Keke Palmer and LaKeith Stanfield held a free gas giveaway at a Shell station in Los Angeles, where the first 70 vehicles were filled up at no cost. According to Promiflash, the event took place as gasoline prices in the city were around five euros per gallon—well above the U.S. average of three euros. Palmer posted an Instagram reel of the event, captioning it, ‘My reaction to these gas prices.’ While the mood was mostly festive, with fans receiving up to 85 euros in free fuel and photos with babies, one driver who arrived too late called the police, though the situation was quickly resolved without incident.

Palmer, known for her career that began in childhood acting, plays a rising Oakland-based fashion designer who joins a stylish crew for a bold heist. The film is described as a ‘life-reset comedy’ and features a cast that includes Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, and Sandra Oh. It is the first comedy of the 2026 New Year and was released on January 7.

The film’s satirical tone aligns with the style of Riley’s earlier work, such as 2018’s ‘Sorry to Bother You,’ which similarly used surrealism and political comedy to explore class dynamics and labor issues. ‘I Love Boosters’ continues this tradition, using fashion and visual contrast as a narrative tool to highlight class differences.
