The game is set to launch on June 25, with pre-orders now available at a lower price point than previous titles in the series.
May Sales Highlight Affordable Nintendo Games
Amid the price increase news. Nintendo’s eShop has been offering several titles at deeply ed rates — In May, seven games were available for less than 2 euros, with s of up to 90 percent. These include Splasher. A 2D platformer with a paint-based mechanic; Roguebook, a card-building roguelike from the creators of Magic: The Gathering; and FAR: Lone Sails, a minimalist adventure game. All titles are compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, offering value to both new and returning players.

Market Challenges and Future Outlook
According to Nintendo’s financial report released on May 8, the company expects to generate $2.4 billion in profits for the upcoming fiscal year, which is below the average analyst estimate of $3.06 billion. Nintendo also projects selling 16.5 million Switch units in the next fiscal year, down from 19.9 million in the previous year — the company cited increased costs related to memory, materials, and tariffs as factors affecting profitability. Bloomberg reported that the Switch recorded the fastest sales rate in the history of home video game consoles, partly driven by consumer concerns over potential price hikes.
Despite the price increase. Nintendo remains optimistic about its software business, which is expected to generate the majority of the company’s revenue. The hardware segment has faced challenges over the past six months due to component shortages and increased shipping costs, particularly from the war in the Middle East. Analysts, including Hideki Yasuda of Toyo Research Advice, believe that Nintendo’s revised forecasts are conservative but reflect the company’s cautious approach to market conditions.
The new Star Fox game is seen by many as a return to the franchise’s roots, offering a nostalgic yet updated experience. With its mix of classic gameplay and new modes, Star Fox may help attract both longtime fans and new players to the Nintendo Switch 2 environment.
