COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — Sahibzada Farhan bludgeoned Namibia’s bowlers for an unbeaten 100 from 58 deliveries, complete with 11 fours and four sixes, in Pakistan’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 match at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground.

The 29-year-old opener, with nine prior T20I fifties, etched his name into history. He joined Ahmed Shehzad as only the second Pakistani to reach three figures in the tournament. Shehzad had made 111 not out against Bangladesh in 2014.

Farhan’s effort marks him as the 13th batter overall to score a T20 World Cup century. The list includes Chris Gayle of West Indies with 117 against South Africa in 2007 and 100 not out versus England in 2016; Suresh Raina of India with 101 against South Africa in 2010; Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka with 100 against Zimbabwe that same year; Alex Hales of England with 116 not out against Sri Lanka in 2014; Tamim Iqbal of Bangladesh with 103 not out against Oman in 2016; Jos Buttler of England with 101 not out against Sri Lanka in 2021; Rilee Rossouw of South Africa with 109 against Bangladesh in 2022; Glenn Phillips of New Zealand with 104 against Sri Lanka in 2022; Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka with 100 not out against Australia in 2026; and Yuvraj Samra of Canada with 110 against New Zealand also in 2026.

In T20 internationals broadly, Farhan became the sixth Pakistani to hit a ton. He follows Babar Azam, who leads with three; and Mohammad Rizwan, Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris and Shehzad, each with one, according to cricket records.

The Pakistan Cricket Board celebrated the milestone on X. “Sahibzada Farhan becomes the second Pakistani to score a century in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” the PCB posted.

Fans and cricket figures quickly piled on with congratulations across social media. Pakistan’s top order set a strong platform against Namibia’s Eagles, who struggled to contain Farhan’s assault.

Before this innings, Farhan had built a reputation in domestic cricket and the Pakistan Super League. His T20 World Cup debut century highlights Pakistan’s batting depth as they chase success in the 2026 edition hosted across Sri Lanka and other venues.

Match officials confirmed the innings as the latest entry in T20 World Cup lore. Farhan retired not out after reaching his hundred, handing the strike to teammates amid cheers from the Colombo crowd.

Pakistan’s campaign continues with upcoming fixtures, but Farhan’s performance already stands as a highlight. Namibia, meanwhile, absorbed the blow in their group stage effort.
