Collaborations and Inspirations
Performing the album’s music are Grammy Award-winning conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Philharmonia Orchestra — the suite includes works composed by Hopkins as early as 1963 when he was at the Liverpool Playhouse. The piece ‘Bracken Road’ reflects on the streets, meadows, farmland, and mountains surrounding his family home in the 1940s. According to Decca Classics. The album also features ‘My Fatherland,’ which is based on traditional Welsh melodies, and other works inspired by cinema, his wife, and his niece.

The album includes a suite titled ‘1947: Suite For Solo Piano And Orchestra,’ with ‘Bracken Road’ as its second piece. The album’s first track, ‘Fanfare and March,’ has been noted for its potential as a ‘bop’ for the summer, according to Vulture.
