Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 5 crossed the $200 million mark in the U.S. in just five days, according to Deadline, as the film posted the best Tuesday of 2026 with $23.7 million. That figure sent the animated sequel across the $200M domestic threshold on its fifth day of release. Post-pandemic, that’s the same time it took Inside Out 2 to reach that point, as well as Disney Animation’s Moana 2 (which benefited from a Thanksgiving stretch launch) and faster than Zootopia 2 (which took 11 days to hit $200M).
Box Office Performance and Audience Reception
Toy Story 5 opened to $159.6 million in the U.S., the best of 2026 and the second-best domestic debut of the year after Incredibles 2’s $182 million+ opening. Analysts expected a -40% to -45% drop in weekend two, projecting a total of $88 million to $96 million. The film’s second weekend is now looking closer to $74 million at 4,425 locations, which would push the total domestic to just over $300 million in 10 days. The -54% second-weekend hold is close to the -56% drop for Incredibles 2, which opened with a record $182.6 million for an animated movie.
Warner Bros/DC’s Supergirl opened at the low end with $40 million at 3,602 theaters, according to Deadline, while the film faced mixed reviews, with a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Its Friday gross was $18 million. Including $7.8 million in domestic previews, though Critics gave it a 57% score, slightly below the 63% for The Flash, which opened to $55 million in June 2023. No international numbers were updated for Supergirl at press time.
Competition and Other Releases
Paramount’s Jackass: Best and Last debuted at third place with $3.6 million to $4.3 million at 2,855 theaters, but the film had strong audience and critic reception, with 88% and 85% scores on Rotten Tomatoes, respectively. Focus Features’ Obsession continued at fourth place with $8.5 million in its seventh weekend at 2,965 sites, bringing its running cume to $232.6 million; the toxic-romance pic earned $2.7 million on its latest day.
Universal/Amblin’s Steven Spielberg film Disclosure Day placed fifth with $7 million at 3,357 sites in its third weekend, and the film has a running cume of $93.2 million. Meanwhile, Cinemacenter Rivera in Argentina added Toy Story 5 to its lineup, highlighting the movie as a family-friendly classic; the film’s plot revolves around Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the gang encountering a new high-tech toy, which leads to unexpected adventures.
Historical Context and Tuesday Box Office
Toy Story 5’s Tuesday gross of $23.7 million was a 37% increase from its $17.3 million Monday, which was also the best of 2026. This marked the fourth-best Tuesday of June in history, behind Inside Out 2 ($28.8 million on June 18, 2024), Incredibles 2 ($27 million on June 19, 2018), and Jurassic World ($24.3 million on June 16, 2015). It also ranked as the third-best Tuesday for a Pixar movie. The previous best Tuesday of the year was held by Illumination/Nintendo/Universal’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie at $14.7 million.
Focus Features’ Obsession remained at No. 2 on Tuesday with $2.7 million, bringing its U.S. cume to $220 million in its sixth week. The film continues to hold a strong presence at the box office despite its niche appeal.
