Verstappen Dominates in Exhibition Race

Max Verstappen, the four-time Formula One world champion, recently completed an exhibition race at Silverstone where he passed 100 amateur go-kart drivers, and the event, titled ‘Max vs 100,’ took place on an adapted track at the grand prix circuit in Northamptonshire. Verstappen, who is 28 years old, achieved this feat in just 14 laps and 35 minutes.

Firm Tactics and Early Lead

Verstappen, known for his aggressive racing style, quickly moved up the ranks; By the end of the chaotic first lap, he had climbed to 37th place. During this lap, many drivers crashed or spun out, leading to a brief suspension of the race — Verstappen had warned participants on race radio that ‘it’s not a charity event,’ highlighting his competitive mindset.

Passing the Final Drivers

By the start of lap six, Verstappen had moved into 10th place, and by lap 10, he was in fourth. Each driver he passed was forced to retire from the race. As the event progressed, the remaining field included TV, sport, and social media personalities, but no professional racing drivers. Among those left were Dutch F1 journalist Jacky Martens, Red Bull engine builder Lewis Osler, and YouTuber Zac Alsop.

All three remaining drivers were given an extra ‘fast lap’ where they could cut a corner of the track to try to hold off Verstappen for longer. However, Verstappen ultimately overtook them all. Martens, who started in pole position after qualifying, was the final driver to be passed. Verstappen completed his challenge with 40 minutes and 21 laps to spare.

Verstappen’s success in this exhibition race speaks to his early career in karting. He began his racing journey as a junior in karting and went on to win four consecutive F1 titles between 2021 and 2024. His performance at Silverstone showcased his dominance in the sport, even in a fun and informal setting.
