VK Sasikala, a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu politics and a former confidante of the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, has launched a new political party ahead of the upcoming state elections. The announcement was made on February 24, the birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa, at a public meeting in Ramanathapuram district. Sasikala revealed a party flag bearing the colors black, white, and red, similar to the AIADMK flag, and indicated that the party’s name would be announced soon.

Legacy of Jayalalithaa and Dravidian Leaders

Speaking at the event, Sasikala emphasized that her new party would follow the political legacy of Dravidian leaders such as CN Annadurai, MG Ramachandran, and J Jayalalithaa. However, Sasikala’s political trajectory was abruptly halted in 2017 when she was convicted in a disproportionate assets case and sentenced to four years in prison.
