VIENTIANE — Asia-Pacific International Financial Investment Co., Ltd. donated a consignment of military food supplies to the Lao People’s Army on the morning of August 6, at a handover ceremony held at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defence.

Company chairman Zhou Yulong led a delegation of the firm’s department heads to the ceremony. The donation is intended to support the development of the Lao People’s Army and strengthen its capacity to carry out national defense and security duties, with particular attention to officers and soldiers stationed in remote border areas, who are to receive dry rations along with field equipment and daily necessities.

The consignment comprised 290 cases of compressed reserve rations and 220 cases of instant noodles, which will be distributed to officers and soldiers carrying out national defense and security missions on the front line.

Lt. Gen. Saichay Kommasith, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army and chairman of the ministry’s Military Cooperation Committee, attended the ceremony as witness. Representatives of the ministry’s four general departments and its administrative office, delegations from ministries and related agencies, and the company’s leadership team were also present.

Speaking at the ceremony, the deputy minister expressed thanks and appreciation for the generosity, dedication, care and encouragement the company has shown toward Lao officers and soldiers at a time of difficulty. The assistance, he said, corresponds to actual conditions and will help ease the food supply difficulties and shortages facing Lao People’s Army units on front-line defense and security missions.

Under the company’s donation plan for military supplies, it is to provide 10 tonnes of compressed rations and 500 cases of instant noodles annually for five consecutive years. In the second half of 2026, the company plans to supply 50,000 sets of field raincoats, medical equipment for regional and field hospitals, and solar power equipment for field units, alongside further assistance based on the actual conditions and needs of the Lao People’s Army.
