The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reportedly offered 80 Assembly seats and the post of Deputy Chief Minister to actor-politician Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) wins the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, according to a report by India Today citing party sources. TVK Joint General Secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar has dismissed reports of negotiations with the BJP-led alliance as ‘rumours’, reiterating that the party had already made its ideological position clear. ‘There’s no scope for an alliance with the NDA. We have already made it clear that the BJP is our ideological enemy,’ Kumar told reporters, while urging party members not to rely on speculation circulating in the media and on social media.

The remarks came amid mounting speculation about the political future of Vijay, whose newly formed TVK is preparing to contest its first Assembly election in Tamil Nadu. Some sources within the party have said internal discussions are underway on whether an alliance with established political parties could improve the party’s electoral prospects.
