Denver Broncos wide receiver Michael Bandy is staying put. The team announced Friday that it has re-signed the receiver, who hit free agency when his practice squad deal ended.
Bandy played in four games for Denver during the 2025 season. He recorded four receptions for 50 yards and one touchdown. Those numbers came off the bench as the Broncos worked through their receiving options.
This isn’t Bandy’s first go-round with Denver. He also appeared in one game for the Broncos in 2023. Before joining Denver, Bandy spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers. There, he suited up for 11 games across the 2021 and 2022 seasons, hauling in 10 catches for 89 yards.
The 28-year-old receiver went undrafted out of San Diego State in 2021. He has bounced around practice squads and active rosters since entering the league, chasing consistent playing time. Re-signing with Denver keeps him in a familiar system under head coach Sean Payton.
Broncos officials did not disclose contract terms. Bandy’s return bolsters depth at wide receiver heading into the offseason. The team finished the 2025 regular season with a 9-8 record but missed the playoffs.
Bandy’s touchdown catch this year came in a Week 12 win over the Cleveland Browns. He hauled in a 22-yard strike from quarterback Jarrett Stidham late in the fourth quarter, helping seal a 29-22 victory. That moment stood out in an otherwise quiet statistical season for the receiver.
Denver’s receiving corps features stars like Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr. Bandy serves as a reliable option further down the depth chart. His speed and sure hands make him valuable on special teams and in emergency situations.
The move comes as the Broncos prepare for free agency and the NFL draft. General manager George Paton emphasized roster continuity in recent comments. Bandy’s re-signing fits that approach, retaining a player who knows the playbook.
Fans reacted positively on social media. Many praised the low-risk addition, noting Bandy’s local ties—he grew up in San Diego but trained in Colorado during the offseason. His familiarity with Empower Field at Mile High could prove useful if injuries strike again.
Across the NFL, teams often re-sign practice squad players for depth. The Broncos follow suit here, locking in Bandy before other clubs could swoop. Expect him to compete for a spot in training camp come July.
