Educate.ie, an Irish-owned publishing company that produces learning materials for secondary school students, has announced the creation of a new digital learning platform for the classroom. The organisation was founded in 2009 by Tony and Patricia Walsh in Castleisland, Kerry.
The platform, called EdPal, is being developed through a post-primary school pilot programme, where teachers can provide feedback on its functionality and use in the classroom. The goal is to reduce the administrative burden on teachers, improve clarity for parents, and offer students a more consistent learning experience.
EdPal will provide students with access to interactive ebooks and educational resources, as well as tools to support lesson delivery, student engagement, and assessment. The company said the platform was designed with secondary school students in mind.
Alongside the launch of EdPal, Educate.ie announced the creation of a new headquarters in Dundrum Business Park, which will see 50 new jobs created by 2029. The company plans to scale its operations nationally, expanding into technology, content development, customer support, and education.
Sinead Keogh, director of publishing at Educate.ie, said teachers face constant pressure to balance curriculum delivery, assessment, and communication with students and families. She added that the company heard repeatedly from educators about the need for tools that are practical, intuitive, and aligned with how Irish classrooms function. ‘EdPal was built around that reality,’ she said.
The expansion comes as Educate.ie also announced plans for future growth, including the potential for more jobs over the next three years. The company has not yet specified which roles will be created, but said they will be filled across various departments.
In mid-January, AICertified, an Irish edtech company, secured €1m in funding in a round led by Oyster Capital, with support from Enterprise Ireland. The Dublin-based company, founded by entrepreneur Ian Dodson, aims to ‘create the global certification standard for AI skills’ with the funding.
