The European Union and the United Kingdom have imposed sanctions on 23 and 85 individuals and entities respectively for their involvement in the forced deportation and militarization of Ukrainian children. Combined, the EU and UK targeted 108 Russian-linked actors over the past year of war.
EU Sanctions 23 Institutions and Individuals
On Monday. The EU announced measures against 23 state institutions and individuals involved in programs that subject Ukrainian children to pro-Russian indoctrination, including patriotic events, ideological education, and military-oriented activities. According to an EU statement. Russia has deported and forcibly transferred nearly 20,500 Ukrainian children since its full-scale invasion in February 2022 — the EU described the actions as grave breaches of international law.
The sanctions include asset freezes and travel bans, though they were approved by the EU’s 27 nations in coordination with Canada and the UK, which announced similar measures. The EU’s top diplomat. UK Targets ‘Warrior Centre’ and Others

The sanctions are part of a larger effort by Western allies to degrade Russia’s war capability. The UK, along with the EU, emphasized the deliberate nature of the deportations as part of a broader strategy to undermine Ukrainian society and national identity.
U.S. Expands Sanctions to 300+ Individuals and Entities
Separately, the United States announced sanctions against more than 300 individuals and entities for supporting the Russian war effort. The Department of State imposed sanctions on over 100 people and organizations, including those in third countries like China, and entities supporting Russia’s defense and energy sectors. The sanctions aim to disrupt evasion efforts, limit Russia’s future energy revenues, and target malign authorities responsible for the forced transfer of Ukrainian children.
The U.S. measures include restrictions on Russia’s Arctic LNG 2 project and other energy initiatives. The Department of State also targeted Belarusian entities aiding Russia’s war machine. All designations are made under Executive Order 14024, which authorizes sanctions against harmful foreign activities of the Russian government.
The U.S. emphasized it will continue to use all available tools to disrupt support for Russia’s military-industrial base and curtail its ability to exploit the international financial system in furtherance of its war against Ukraine.
