Several fans were injured when a panel in the stand for away supporters gave way during a top division match between Tromso and Bodo/Glimt at Tromso’s stadium. The game was stopped just before half-time after Bodo keeper Nikita Haikin called the referee’s attention to the incident. One fan was hospitalised, while up to five others reportedly fell through the stand, according to Bodo/Glimt’s press officer Simen Pedersen.

Incident During Fan Song

“We stood and bounced to a supporter song, then the floor gave way; it cracked in two in the row in front of us,” Andrine Moen, a Bodo supporter who witnessed the accident, told local newspaper Verdens Gang (VG). “There were at least two people who fell through the floor, but we don’t know how far they fell or how many fell in total,” she said.

Tromso issued a statement confirming the incident: “We have had a serious incident in the away stand in connection with the game between TIL and Bodo/Glimt. Preliminary information is that a person has fallen through the stands and is injured.” The statement did not provide further details about the injuries.

Match Resumes After Safety Consultation

Following consultations between the two teams, the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF), supporters, and the police, the match resumed. The away supporters were instructed to leave the affected stand and relocate to other sections of the stadium. Bodo/Glimt forward Ola Brynhildsen scored twice after the game resumed, giving the team a 2-0 win and moving them to the top of the Eliteserien table ahead of Viking Stavanger on goal difference.

The match took place in heavy rain at Tromso’s Romssa Arena, which is the northernmost venue in Norway’s top football league. The score was 0-0 when the game was paused. The Eliteserien season is set to conclude in the first week of December, with Bodo/Glimt currently locked in a title race with Viking.

Stadium Safety in Question

The incident has raised questions about stadium safety. The away stand was being used for the game, as is common in Norwegian football. Tromso and Bodo/Glimt have not yet released any official updates on the structural inspection or the cause of the collapse. The NFF has not commented publicly on the matter as of this report.

Bodo/Glimt’s press officer confirmed to Reuters that up to five people may have fallen, with one being taken to the hospital. No further information about the condition of the injured fan was disclosed. Tromso fans were asked to make space for the displaced Bodo supporters during the second half of the match.
