India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha at the Munich Security Conference 2026, where the two discussed the current state of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding trade and deepening bilateral relations. The talks took place amid ongoing U.S.-led negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Sybiha said in a series of tweets that the two leaders reaffirmed India’s constructive engagement in international efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region. The discussion also covered cooperation within international organizations and the mutual interest in furthering diplomatic contacts and economic ties.
Jaisankar’s meetings with Sybiha came after he held talks with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger and Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric. Jaishankar shared updates on these meetings via his social media accounts, highlighting the diplomatic exchanges.
Jaishankar also joined Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and world leaders for a panel discussion on ‘Stability Under Stress: The New Demands of Statecraft’ at the conference. He posted on X about the session, which included former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt and other international figures.
On the sidelines of the conference, Jaishankar met with Ted Deutch, CEO of the American Jewish Committee, and reiterated India’s support for the UN80 agenda. He emphasized India’s role in safeguarding sea lines of communication, acting as a first responder in crises, and strengthening port security.
The 62nd Munich Security Conference, hosted at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof and the Rosewood Munich, began on February 13 and runs through February 15. The event, led by MSC Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger, brings together hundreds of global decision-makers and opinion leaders to address pressing security challenges.
Jaishankar also met with G7 Foreign Ministers during the conference, reiterating India’s support for international efforts to ensure global security and stability. Discussions with G7 counterparts included economic cooperation, defense ties, and regional security challenges.
