A two-day awareness campaign on menstrual health and hygiene has been launched at two Namo Bharat corridor stations to celebrate the 115th edition of International Women’s Day (IWD), according to a release. The event, organized by feminine hygiene brand Everteen in collaboration with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), runs from March 7 to March 8 and includes a series of interactive activities and outreach efforts at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station in Delhi and Begumpur Namo Bharat Station in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

Interactive Campaigns and Free Hygiene Kits

The campaign aims to educate women commuters on menstrual health, dispel myths, and encourage healthy practices. As part of the initiative, Everteen will distribute International Women’s Day hygiene kits free of charge to women commuters. Each kit includes premium sanitary pads, period calendars, and an exclusive Everteen Period Tracker designed to help women monitor their menstrual cycles, ovulation days, safe days, and fertility windows.

The kits also come with informative flyers on menstrual hygiene, personal health, and self-care, aimed at engaging adolescent girls. A dedicated photo booth has been set up at the stations to encourage social media outreach using hashtags like #IWDwithNCRTCandEverteen and #CelebrateWomen. A kiosk and information distribution desk near the boarding areas will further support the outreach efforts.

Public Awareness and Onboard Engagement

Public announcements will be made to draw commuter attention, inform them about scheduled activities, and share messages on menstrual health awareness. A trained team member will board the women’s coach of the rapid rail to conduct an ‘awareness drive on the go’ through live chat and interactive sessions. This approach ensures that the campaign reaches commuters while they are traveling.

The event seeks to encourage healthy practices among women and young girls and promote open dialogue about menstrual health in public spaces. According to a statement from Everteen, the initiative aligns with the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, ‘Give To Gain,’ which emphasizes the importance of collective action in advancing gender equality.

Significance of Namo Bharat and Women’s Empowerment

Namo Bharat, India’s first regional rapid transit system, is being run by NCRTC, a joint venture company of the government of India and states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The system is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and aims to ensure balanced and sustainable urban development through better connectivity and access.

Each Namo Bharat train features a separate coach for women travelers, a design that reflects the growing emphasis on women’s safety and empowerment in public spaces. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously remarked that the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail has become a symbol of women’s empowerment, with women operating trains, managing station control, and handling other key functions.

The campaign at Namo Bharat stations is a significant step in promoting menstrual health awareness and challenging the stigma surrounding it in public discourse. According to Everteen, the initiative is part of a broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort to improve women’s health outcomes and support a more inclusive society.

With the global focus on gender equality and women’s health gaining momentum, such initiatives are crucial in addressing long-standing issues related to menstrual hygiene and health. The campaign not only raises awareness but also provides practical tools and resources to women, empowering them to take control of their health.

As the event progresses, the impact of these efforts will be closely monitored, with potential for similar campaigns to be launched in other parts of the country. The collaboration between private companies and public institutions highlights the importance of collective action in addressing societal challenges.
