Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of a deadly attack in Lviv, western Ukraine, that killed a 23-year-old policewoman and injured at least 24 others on Monday. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi called the incident a ‘terrorist’ act.

Overnight on Sunday, Russian forces attacked Kyiv and surrounding areas, killing at least one person and injuring 17, including four children. Regional Governor Mykola Kalashnyk said more than a dozen homes were damaged in five districts. The strikes also disrupted power in several regions, including Kyiv, according to Ukraine’s power grid operator Ukrenergo.

Zelenskyy said the attacks targeted the Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Sumy regions. He noted that residential buildings and the railway were also damaged, in addition to the energy sector.

Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia deployed 345 weapons, including 50 missiles and 297 drones, in the overnight attack. It said it shot down 33 missiles and 274 drones.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called for stronger international sanctions against Russia, stating, ‘This terror cannot be normalised; it must be stopped. Russia cannot wag the world, just as the tail cannot wag the dog.’

In the occupied Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia, Russian-installed officials said emergency crews were restoring power after a Ukrainian attack on energy infrastructure. Governor Yevgeny Balitsky noted that 12,000 households still lacked electricity.

A Ukrainian drone attack in Luhansk, a Russian-occupied region in eastern Ukraine, caused a fire at a fuel reservoir, according to Leonid Pasechnik, the Moscow-installed leader.

In Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, a ‘massive’ Ukrainian missile attack damaged energy infrastructure and disrupted power, heat, and water supplies, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

Ukrainian drone attacks forced temporary airport closures in Moscow, where Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 24 drones had been destroyed or intercepted en route to the Russian capital.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence reported that air defense units intercepted or destroyed 130 Ukrainian drones over a four-hour period, including over Moscow and surrounding areas, as well as other central Russian regions.
