Sunil Sharma, the Leader of Opposition in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the BJP’s Election Co-Incharge for the Assam Assembly elections, addressed a large gathering of party workers and local residents in West Karbi Anglong. He emphasized the BJP’s role in transforming Assam under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP’s Governance Model and Development in Assam
According to a statement, Sharma highlighted that Assam is now at the forefront of a new era of growth and transformation due to the policies and development-oriented governance of the BJP. He noted that the Modi-led government has placed the Northeast at the center of India’s development agenda, ensuring significant investments in connectivity, industry, healthcare, and education to unlock the region’s potential.
Sharma pointed out that the BJP governments at both the Centre and in Assam have accelerated infrastructure development through highways, bridges, railways, and industrial projects. These efforts are changing the economic landscape of the region. Major connectivity projects and development initiatives worth thousands of crores are strengthening Assam’s position as a central point in the development of Southeast Asia and opening new avenues of growth for youth, farmers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.
Inclusive Development and Welfare Schemes
Sunil Sharma stated that the BJP believes in inclusive development, ensuring that progress reaches even the last person in the queue. He said that the welfare schemes of the Modi government, including housing, healthcare, farmer support, and skill development initiatives, have brought dignity and economic empowerment to millions of families across Assam and the Northeast.
Sharma emphasized that the BJP’s governance model is rooted in transparency, accountability, and a strong commitment to nation-building. He stated that the people of Assam have witnessed how development has accelerated under the BJP, correcting decades of neglect and placing the state firmly on the path of prosperity and stability.
Appreciating the enthusiasm of party workers and the overwhelming support from the local population, Sharma expressed confidence that the collective efforts of dedicated BJP cadre will further strengthen the mission of development and good governance.
Vision for a Prosperous Assam
He further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will continue working shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Assam to realize the vision of a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant state in line with the national goal of building a ‘Viksit Bharat.’
Sharma’s remarks come at a time when the BJP is actively campaigning for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections. The party is using its track record of development and governance to gain support in a state that has historically been a focal point for political and social transformation in the Northeast.
The government’s focus on infrastructure and connectivity has already begun to show results. For example, the construction of the Dhubri-Bongaigaon Industrial Corridor, which is expected to boost economic activity in the region, is a significant project under the central government’s northeast development plan.
According to a recent report by the Assam Economic Development Board, the state’s GDP growth rate has been consistently higher than the national average in recent years, largely due to increased investment in infrastructure and industry. This trend is expected to continue with the implementation of new projects and policies.
The Modi government has also introduced several welfare schemes, such as the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY) and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), which have had a significant impact on the lives of the people in Assam. These schemes have provided housing, financial inclusion, and access to banking services to millions of people in the state.
Sunil Sharma has been a vocal supporter of these initiatives and has often credited the BJP and the Modi government for their significant impact on the state. His comments are in line with the party’s broader narrative that emphasizes development, governance, and national unity.
With the upcoming elections, the BJP is expected to focus on these development achievements as a key part of its campaign strategy. The party is also likely to highlight its commitment to inclusive growth and the welfare of the people in Assam.
As the political landscape in Assam continues to evolve, the role of the BJP and its policies under Prime Minister Modi will be closely watched by both the local population and the national media.
