Shreveport gym owner Amanda Coday learned Thursday she had won a community award for her thoughtful deeds. Harley Partington, a close friend, nominated Coday for the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award, highlighting her big heart and welcoming nature.
Partington wrote a glowing letter to 96.5 KVK-I Kiss Country, calling Coday the type of person who shrinks the world with warmth. ‘No one is ever a stranger,’ Partington said in the nomination. Coday greets people with a big smile and ‘Hey Girl!’, making them feel at home right away. Her sincerity shines in both grand gestures and small ones, according to the nomination.
One standout example came before a recent ice storm in the Shreveport area. Coday and her husband, Tom, delivered food to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s station. They wanted to support deputies working long hours to keep the community safe. Partington described Coday as someone who looks out for others without expecting thanks in return.
‘That’s who Amanda is—thoughtful, generous, and always looking out for others,’ Partington wrote. The radio station agreed. Hosts surprised Coday with a phone call announcing her as the latest recipient. The award celebrates people caught doing good in the community.
As part of the honor, John and the team at Magnolia Pit Stop offered Coday a $50 gift certificate for a meal. Listeners can hear the excited reaction in the audio clip from the station’s morning show.
Coday runs Pro27 North gym, where her positive attitude draws people in. Partington, who knows her well, said Coday’s heart of gold makes her stand out. The nomination letter convinced station staff immediately. They praised her for making northwest Louisiana feel more connected.
This isn’t the first time Kiss Country has spotlighted local heroes. The Caught in the Act Award goes to those showing exceptional kindness. Coday joins a line of recipients recognized for quiet contributions. Her story spread quickly on the station’s website and airwaves Thursday morning.
