Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater quietly ended their three-year relationship in June 2024, according to E! Online. The duo had met on the set of the film Wicked, and began dating after Grande finalized her divorce from Dalton Gomez in July 2023, their split was confirmed by a source who stated, “They have quietly been broken up after nearly three years together.”
Relationship Timeline and Public Comments
Grande and Gomez had married in May 2021 at her Montecito, Calif., home — the couple’s divorce was finalized in October 2023. Meanwhile, Ethan Slater had also recently moved on from his marriage to Lily Jay, with whom he shares a son; his divorce was finalized in 2024.
During an interview with Vanity Fair in 2024, Grande addressed the tabloid scrutiny that accompanied her relationships, “It definitely doesn’t get any easier, seeing some of the negativity that was birthed by disreputable tabloids,” she said. She also spoke highly of Slater. Stating, “There couldn’t be a less accurate depiction of a human being than the one that the tabloids spread about him.”.
Behind the Split and Public Reaction
Grande had previously been open about the challenges the couple faced, including the media’s tendency to link their timeline with previous relationships and marriages; “Of course, I went through a lot of life changes during the filming of this movie. A lot of people that were working on it did,” she said in the Vanity Fair interview.
The couple’s split occurred amid ongoing public interest in Grande’s personal life, particularly following her hit song “Thank U, Next,” which was inspired by her exes. A source told E! that the couple had quietly ended their relationship after nearly three years.
