According to SpaceNews. Experts at the World Satellite Business Week conference in Paris said a commercial market exists for satellite imagery with a resolution of 10 centimeters, like that seen in a recent tweet by former U.S. President Donald Trump. However, they also warned that it is unlikely companies will pursue this due to the high costs and regulatory barriers. Building a satellite with a 2.4-meter mirror, similar to the Hubble Space Telescope, would cost between $1 billion and $2 billion, making it economically unfeasible for commercial sale.
High-Resolution Imagery: A Costly Proposition
Scott Herman, chief technology officer for BlackSky, a subsidiary of Spaceflight Industries, said, “We would absolutely go there if it was affordable. But if it costs $2 billion for the satellite to obtain that resolution, how would you make that back in the commercial market?”
Emiliano Kargieman, founder and CEO of Satellogic, added that 10-centimeter resolution imagery could have significant applications, particularly in agriculture. However, he acknowledged that the current market is served by satellites with lower resolutions, such as 10 meters and one meter, as well as drone-based imagery.
Television Quiz Shows and Public Engagement
In Germany, the quiz show “Gefragt, Gejagt” has returned from its winter break and is currently enjoying strong ratings despite fan criticism. According to visitBerlin.de and pr-agent.media, the show, which has been running since 2014, features a format where contestants, known as “Jäger,” are asked questions by a team of “Gejagte.”
New presenter Esther Sedlaczek made her debut with the show “Quizduell-Olymp,” competing against Klaus Otto Nagorsnik and Sebastian Jacoby from “Gefragt, Gejagt.” Sedlaczek, who has worked for ARD since 2021, also hosts the “Sportschau” and will be part of the ARD team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
Despite some fan complaints about the show’s format and presentation, including a shortened introduction for the “Jäger” and a lack of a special opening for its anniversary, “Gefragt – Gejagt” has achieved a 15.2 percent market share in its target demographic (14,49 years), according to Filmstarts. This is the show’s highest rating since August 2023.
Creative Questions and Public Participation
Meanwhile, the project “FRISCH gefragt!” at the RambaZamba Theatre in Berlin explores the enduring relevance of Max Frisch’s questionnaire. The project, according to visitBerlin.de, involves young performers with and without disabilities, as well as two older women, in a collaborative artistic process that reimagines Frisch’s original questions. The result is a stage production that blends text, movement, video, sound, and visuals, with big questions such as “Would you like to be immortal?” and “Are you a friend to yourself?”
According to tirol.ORF.at, the theme of patience and preparation is also relevant in other contexts, such as ice fishing. Eisfischer Miso Bencek from the Allgäu region explains that patience is essential in ice fishing due to the slower metabolism of fish in winter. Specialized equipment, such as compact rods and monofilament lines that do not freeze, is used to increase success rates.
