Prince Harry’s planned visit to the U.K. with wife Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, is still uncertain due to unresolved security concerns. The Duke of Sussex is set to visit the U.K. next week to mark the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham and to support charities like Scotty’s Little Soldiers and WellChild. However, the inclusion of his wife and children is in question after the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) refused to provide full-time police protection during their stay. According to a report in Vanity Fair, the security issue has left Harry ‘close to tears’ and ‘devastated.’
Security Fears and Past Decisions
Meghan and the children have not returned to the U.K. since 2022, largely due to concerns about their safety. Harry and Meghan gave up taxpayer-funded security when they stepped back from active royal duties in January 2020. The lack of consistent protection remains a key barrier to their return. A source close to Harry told the Guardian: ‘Their plans to see family, friends and visit various charitable causes close to the duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour.’
Family Reconciliation Efforts
King Charles has reportedly been making efforts to reconcile with his son, Prince Harry, after years of tension. The meeting between Harry and Charles last year had raised hopes of a truce. However, Prince William has reportedly been less receptive to reconciliation. An insider told RadarOnline: ‘Charles is at the point where he wants to forgive Harry and find a path forward, but William simply won’t hear of it, no matter what his father says.’ Charles is said to be frustrated by William’s unwillingness to engage with his brother, especially after Harry’s public criticism in his memoir Spare and his 2021 interview with Oprah.
Despite Charles’s efforts, the royal family remains divided. The insider added: ‘It’s become a huge battle because William carries enormous influence behind the scenes. And the truth is, many within the Firm still believe Harry and Meghan are toxic – so Charles doesn’t have much support when it comes to welcoming them back.’
Business Amid Uncertainty
While the family dynamics and security issues remain unresolved, the Duchess of Sussex is promoting her latest product with her company, As ever. On the brand’s Instagram account, she shared a teaser of lavender honey, which is expected to be the fourth variety in the line, following sage, wildflower, and orange blossom. The Sage Honey with Honeycomb currently retails for £24, while the Honey Duo Gift Box is priced at £46.
The social media post came as fresh questions arose about whether the Sussex family would travel to the U.K. next month. Harry was reportedly eager for his children to meet their grandfather, King Charles, during the visit. However, security concerns have thrown those plans into doubt. A source close to the duke told the Guardian: ‘He’s looking at every option to try and get the family here safely and keep them safe when they’re on the ground. If he can find a way to do that he will.’
The hope remains that the family can meet their grandfather, but the source added: ‘There is no way that can happen if they are chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane.’
