Former snooker world champion Graeme Dott has been found guilty of sexually abusing two primary school age children, according to The Guardian — the 49-year-old subjected a girl and a boy to multiple incidents of abuse, with the girl targeted between 1993-96 and the boy between 2006-10.

Abuse Details Emerge in Court

A five-day trial at the high court in Glasgow heard Dott exposed himself in front of both children, touched them inappropriately, and kissed them; On Monday, he was found guilty of two counts of lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour towards them. In both cases the abuse happened in the Glasgow area.

During the trial, jurors heard from one of Dott’s victims, a woman now in her 40s, who told the court Dott had sexually abused her on multiple separate occasions while she was a child. She said the abuse had started with Dott “caressing” her bottom over her clothing while giving her a piggyback.

The woman also described an occasion when she said Dott suggested playing a “guessing game” where she had to guess what he was doing. She told the court she lay down and he exposed himself to her and then began touching her with different parts of his body, including his penis. The woman told the court that Dott told her not to tell anyone he was sexually abusing her.

Second Victim’s Testimony

The second victim, a man who is now in his late 20s, said he was sexually abused by Dott on multiple occasions, with the snooker player touching him inappropriately, kissing him and performing sexual acts. He told the court a lot of the abuse took place while he was in a shower, when Dott would come in either partly or completely undressed.

“He would … come into the shower and put soap on my body and wash me in the shower,” the man told the court. According to BBC, the witness described another alleged incident after Dott was said to have asked if she wanted to play a “guessing game” at the house. The witness claimed Dott, who lives in the Dennistoun area of Glasgow, went on to suggest that she take her trousers down. He also lifted her top and started kissing her “belly.”

The witness claimed the abuse had happened several times. Asked if she ever told anyone at that time about what was happening, she stated: “No. Graeme told me not to.” The woman told the court it was a few years later that she first confided in a friend, but did not go into any details with her.

Police Involvement and Trial Progress

She said she also spoke to a teacher before meeting with police in January 2001. Officers then came to her door in 2024, the court heard. According to BBC, prosecutor Lindsey Dalziel asked: “Had you done anything to instigate the police coming?” The witness said: “No, I was in complete shock.”
