Kilauea’s 45th Episode: Halemaumau Crater Spews Lava
On April 23, 2026, the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island erupted for the 45th time since December 2024, sending lava fountains up to 700 feet high from the Halemaumau crater. According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO), the eruption ended abruptly after 8.5 hours.
